Basic Bread Dough

450 g cake flour

1 sachet instant dried yeast

320 ml lukewarm water

10 ml salt

2 tablespoons oil

 

1.  Mix the flour, yeast, salt, oil and water together to form a smooth dough. Place on a floured surface and knead for about two minutes until the dough is smooth and pliable. Do not over work the dough.

2.  Now place the dough into a greased plastic packet and allow to prove for about 15 minutes or until doubled in size. The dough is now ready to be shaped into rolls, a loaf, focaccia, pizza, etc.

3.  Once shaped, leave it to prove for a second time - about 15 minutes or until doubled in size.

4.  Bake in a pre heated oven of 180°C for about 15 minutes until golden.
 

NOTE: You can also prepare this bread in advance! Once kneaded, proved and shaped, refrigerate or freeze the shaped dough until you are ready to use it. Ensure the fillings can be frozen successfully - fillings such as Feta and mushrooms become soggy when defrosting. Refrigerating the shaped and prepared dough prolongs the second proving process by slowing down the yeast action …perfect for preparing your bread up to 8 hours in advance allowing you to be so very organised!
